Sorry for not posting for  while. I was busy doing something else. Now I’ve come back to give  you tips. :)

In general there are two types of dog fighting - illegal dog fights and dogfights over a favorite bone or someone in a heat cycle. But stopping a dogfight either way can be dangerous with the involved person becoming seriously hurt or dying while attempting to break the fight up, depending on its severity and the breed of dogs involved. This article will focus on general dogfights while offering five tips on how to stop a dogfight without getting hurt.

Tip #1

If the dogfight is between two small to medium sized-dogs, have the owners or two individuals grab the dogs by the back legs and quickly pull them apart in a circular or curling motion.

Once the dogs are quickly pulled completely apart, keep hold of their back legs at all costs or they will re-attack the other dog or you. Each person should pull their dog into separate rooms or their own fenced in yard as the dogs are circled simultaneously. Speed is of the essence.

Tip #2

If alone, keep calm and quickly grab a leash or something similar to separate the two dogs.

Quickly get a leash and loop it around one of the dog’s loin area (around the lower back above the back leg area). Grab the other dog by the back legs and pull the dog upwards. The dogs will still be attempting to attack one another, so quickly move the leashed and held dogs to somewhere where the leash can be attached, allowing the dog-in-hand to be moved to a separate location.

Tip #3

Many trainers advice to never use a stun gun, pepper spray or cattle prod to break up a dog fight. Others suggest using a water bottle filled with vinegar as it will divert the fighting dogs momentarily — at least long enough to pull them apart.

What will happen is the second the dog feels the cattle prod, pepper spray, or stun gun, it will instantly assume the culprit is the other dog, intensifying the attack.

Tip #4

“A dog can bite only one person at a time” - this may be a true statement but it sure doesn’t make me feel any better - how about you? A dog bite can be avoided by keeping hands and legs away from the head and teeth of the fighting dogs at all times.

When dogs are fighting, the last thing they think of is last week they learned how to “sit” and “stay” while meanwhile biting their owner in the leg or hand. Little Fido is not the sweet dog he was last week… at the moment, anyway. He’s either defending himself, his favorite toy or his property — ironically which may be the hand it has just bitten.

Tip #5

Use a break stick for pit bull or aggressive and vicious dog attacks, as it will be impossible to gain quick control without one. Lifting the back legs of pit bulls or similar breeds to break up their dogfights will not work as their bites are made to rip and tear.

The jaws of the pit bull and many other aggressive dog breeds use the “lock and hold” mechanism. This makes the pulling apart control for dog fights even worse, as damage to the other dog involves torn muscle and skin.

The only way to break this type of fight is to pry their jaws apart with a break rod (necessary in multi-dog households) while someone else is leashing the dogs for control. This can be dangerous as all fighting dogs will re-direct their anger and attack when pulled apart as they are still in the attack mode. Knowing how to stop a dog fight involves many things, but breeds should always be considered first.

Dog training and safety is important no matter what type of dog you get.

Most American children do not learn how to play an instrument at school anymore due to many schools having to eliminate music programs from their curriculum.  In recent years, however, a rising number of young children and teenagers want to learn how to play instruments like acoustic guitars, keyboard, electric guitars, singing and drums for kids.  This new interest has been influenced by the several different video games out there that mimic singing, musical bands and playing guitar and other instruments.

Some of the first video games that came out that were about performing musically were ones that involved singing.  Many of them requires having a special microphone to hook up to the game console and then you could pick a song to sing to usually in a karaoke -like technique.  The most popular ones were the kind that copied popular singing shows like American Idol.  You could create yourself into a video contestant and then sing before a panel of judges and a large crowd.  Your performance was then followed by the critic of how well you did.  You actually had to learn how to sing on key and to follow the song, or you would perform poorly.  Due to these types of games, more kids than ever now want to take singing lessons because they enjoyed singing through their video game so much. more…

The first thing to remember before you start training your dog is that food is a dog’s priority. Your dog should know that he will get food only if he listens to you. You can be stern but you should not be rude to the dog.

As a first step when the dog is eating its food, remove the food for a minute. You must do it very carefully without irritating the dog. The dog should have faith in you. While removing the food use the words like ’stop’ or ‘leave’. Use the words ‘good boy’ in a soft tone so that the dog knows that you will not harm him. Then put the food back before the dog and let it eat.

Normally the dogs that need not fight for their food are the ones who come from very few litters. Those that come from large litters have to fight for their food otherwise its brothers and sisters will eat up its share also. So these dogs are always possessive about their food. Since these dogs get what they wanted by showing aggressiveness with its brothers and sisters, it will try this out with every toy, bone etc. It will try this trick with human beings as well. If you notice such behavior you must try to stop this at very early age. Otherwise it will create problems later on. more…

A cure for cat urinary infection is simple, painless and effective. In this article, you will learn three simple steps for relieving your cat’s misery, curing the infection and preventing it from ever coming back.

The first step in the “cure cat urinary infection” program is to feed your cat healthy, organic food. The reason for this is that most cat food is full of chemicals and fillers that can compromise the pH level of the bladder. When the pH level is out of whack, bacteria can proliferate and grow and bladder stones can form. Keep in mind that processed food is to cats as junk food is to humans.

Red Devil cichlids are beautiful fish but they are kept alone because of their very aggressive nature. For aquarists who have previous experience in breeding cichlids, they will find that breeding Red Devil cichlids is no big deal. To prepare for the breeding process, it is best to keep your Red Devil cichlids in a large and decorated aquarium with the ideal water conditions, and feed them with suitable food. One great method to induce spawning in Red Devil cichlids is to increase your aquarium temperature to 24-28°C (75-82°F).

Creating a spawning environment for the cichlids is the first important part of the breeding process. What happens in the wild is that the Red Devil cichlids will choose rocks, logs or the ceiling of a cave as the breeding site, and thus, it is good to include such objects in the cichlid aquarium.

So, how do you differentiate between the male and female cichlid? You will find that the adult male cichlid has a very obvious bump on his forehead and also a pointy genital papilla. In addition, the male Red Devil cichlid is normally bigger than the female. The cichlids form one-male and one-female pairs and both parents always participate in taking care of their babies. more…

Your koi needs an environment that is clean and healthy for them to grow to their maximum potential. If you think that having a few water plants and a waterfall in your pond is enough, you are greatly mistaken.

You also need pond filters. Without proper filtration, your koi pond starts to turn green and becomes a breeding ground for parasites and bacteria which may eventually kill your koi.

There are essentially two types of koi pond filters. Firstly, the mechanical filter. This type of filter is to remove solid matter and debris from your koi pond such as fallen leaves, sand, dead algae and insects, koi waste etc. The type of mechanical filter I’d recommend is the type that employs a vortex system. This typically consists of a conical chamber that draws solid waste into its funnel where it is drained away into a settlement chamber at the bottom for removal. Be sure, however to choose a vortex system of an appropriate size for your pond. more…

Most cats are easy to train but there are some that are just not open to the idea of keeping in line with the rules you impose in your own house. There is always one cat that will refuse to follow anything you train him or her to do. If this is your situation, you have a big hurdle ahead of you. But if you know how to train a cat properly, you will be fine.

Cats, by reputation, are independent and stubborn. They are also known for being very particular about where they expel their waste. They can only do it in a certain type of place and this place has to be somewhere they like. This is why they like litter boxes. If you train your cats to use the litter box, they will continue using it as long as you keep it clean. more…

Cats are one of the easiest pets to have inside your home. They are comforting, friendly, and easy to snuggle up to, pet, and fall in love with. Yet, in order to make your pet happy within your home and be happy with them there as well, you must be aware of cat health questions that most owners will face at some point along the way.

While new owners must become familiar with very common health concerns such as how to keep a litter box sanitary and when to take the pet in for vaccinations, there are still many questions about feline health that most owners can’t get answers for easily. Let’s take a quick look at 3 of the questions you may be pondering as an owner.

Can cats take painkillers?

If your cat were to somehow get injured and appeared to be in severe pain, what would you do? This is a common issue with cat owners, because this species of pet is very good at hiding signs of pain. Some pets actually have to be in severe pain for it to really be obvious, but you can assume there is pain if they are less active, hiding, or just not acting like themselves after an accident or mishap of some sort.

The answer is to go to the vet and ask about appropriate pain medications for your pet. Pain killers were once considered unsafe and downright dangerous to felines, but there are some kinds now that have proven to be safe and effective.

Can diseases be passed from cats to humans?

It is hard for many owners to even entertain the idea that their beloved pet could actually pass a disease or health condition to their own body. The truth is there are some feline diseases and conditions that can in fact be passed to humans.

This doesn’t mean that you have to get rid of your cat to be safe. You just have to take proper care of every animal in your household. Care includes making sure they are vaccinated on schedule, cleaning the litter box properly and routinely, and maintaining a regular grooming schedule.

How long will my cat live?

Cats have relatively short life spans compared to humans, though they are living longer today than ever before. If you care for your cat properly they may live twenty years or more. Of course, felines can suffer from many of the same health conditions that lead to human deaths, such as cancer.

The typical age at death is around 9, but it is entirely possible for a healthy, well cared for cat to live much longer today.

In the end, there is a lot of care required to keep your cat friends healthy and happy, but the happiness and peace that they bring into the home far outweighs this issue. Just make sure to familiarize yourself with other common cat health questions so you are more knowledgeable for whatever comes up in the future with your pet.
